FAQs & Code of Conduct

FAQs

What is your behavior and discipline approach?

We use a connection-based, developmentally respectful approach. We do not use punishment, shaming, or reward charts. Teachers support children in repairing harm, regulating emotions, and rejoining the group when they are ready.

What happens if my child is struggling emotionally or behaviorally during the day?

Children are supported with compassion and flexibility. If a child needs extra support beyond what we can reasonably provide in a group setting, we will partner with families to determine next steps that honor everyone’s well-being.

Do parents stay on-site?

This is a drop-off program. Parents are asked to trust the environment and educators once children are settled. If a child is having difficulty separating, we will communicate with families as needed.

What is your illness policy?

Please keep children home if they are sick, feverish, vomiting, or have had diarrhea within the last 24 hours. This protects our staff and families. We appreciate your care for our shared communit

Do you offer refunds?

We do not offer refunds. As a small business serving homeschooling families, we charge in advance due to the ever-changing nature of homeschool plans and our need to staff and prepare thoughtfully for each learning experience.

Is your co-op religious?

Our academic programming is not religious. Some optional electives may have a Christian focus, and our co-op is led by Christian educators who are motivated by their love of Jesus to love and serve others well. Participation in faith-based electives is always voluntary.

Do you give tests or grades?

No. We do not use tests, grades, or student comparisons. Our co-op is a great fit for families who value connection, curiosity, and a love of learning over academic rigor or performance metrics.

What if my child doesn’t get along with every student?

We serve many kinds of learners. This means your child may encounter peers who play, communicate, or interact differently than they are used to. We ask all families to honor each child’s journey. We never force children to engage together, but we do invite positive collaboration and mutual respect.

Do you teach by grade level?

We do not teach strictly by grade level. Materials and expectations are adjusted to what each child can do. For example, a child who cannot yet write may respond orally. If there are skills you’re supporting at home, we are happy to gently reinforce them—without coercion or pressure.

What food can my child bring?

Not all foods are permitted on our premises. Please send thoughtful, natural, whole foods. Protein-forward and low-sugar options are preferred, as they support focus, regulation, and learning.

What about arrival and dismissal times?

Respecting our opening and closing times is essential. Many of our teachers have older students with extracurricular commitments. We cannot accommodate tardiness. Our pre-class time is used to prepare the day, and arriving early can be just as disruptive as arriving late.
